1st Annual 2008 Best of Taipei Readers' Choice Poll

So we all know that Taipei is filled with tons of good eats. Here's your turn to tell everyone else about your favorites!

It's long, but we're always eating! Please fill out as many as you feel like it and post in the comments section! It's probably easiest to copy and paste the area below and fill it out...

Mull it over.. I will run this until December 20th and then tabulate all the info. I will announce the winners by January 1st.

I will also randomly select 1 LUCKY Reader to give away a NT$1000 gift certificate to whichever restaurant wins Best of the Best. (If the restaurant that wins Best of the Best doesn't have or won't let me buy a gift certificate, then I'll make it something equally yummy or a Starbucks card!) Try to comment with your name or initials- so I'll be able to identify you when you email me if you win after I announce the winner! So I hope everyone will participate and campaign for their faves!

1st EVER HUNGRYINTAIPEI.com's BEST OF TAIPEI READERS' CHOICE RESTAURANT POLL

Ha! I wish Eddy's was my place :) Actually I just happen to live near Danshui & pass it on my bus route fairly often & have been there a few times with some of my kids & a few friends & think it's the closest to real that I've had in my 10 years in Asia. I'm a Californian & Mexican is probably the food I've missed most, I'd given up on ever having a good horchata again! Granted, the servings are not the same (but I don't really want a one kilo carnitas :) & in that respect much prefer the smaller servings where I pay for what I get & get what I pay for. As far as a few other favorites, Best Ice Cream would be Cold Stone Creamery (but then, I have kids so like novelty), Best Sandwich I'd say the bagel sandwich at Bigtom, Best "Make Believe Your in the States" would be Chili's & best Buffet would be Wasabi. Oh yeah, Best Old Fashioned Donut (another I never thought I'd see again) Mr. Donut & the best place to just chill with a fair selection of foods & styles (& prices) with a good view of the ocean, Chienshuiwan's cafe strip. Best "potential" place, with very good American food is Texas BBQ on the way out to Baishawan, the food is great (& is true American servings) but the interior decor needs some help to turn it into a place to take friends.

Joan,

It seems like your reader's choice poll here went very well. Here's an idea. How about a monthly poll, like best specialty, dish or random food item. For example, where can you find the best nachos in Taipei?

:)
