Um the best part of the meal. DESSERT!
33 Ice City on Ta-an rd. between Zhong Xiao and Civic Blvd. is a alternative to Ice Monster. I think the Mango there is actually better and sweeter. They own their own mango farm!
Chocoholic- in the 2nd? alley of Yung-Kang St. They have great chocolate drinks hot or cold.
V V G & V V G table have great desserts but they also have a great LEMONADE!!! I know it's just a drink you've had a million times but trust me, it's really good here. It's not cheap but it's good.
Oh man, what about Tai Yi (not sure about my mangled pinyin) near NTU? I prefer that to ice monster because of their awesome tang yuen. Every time I go I get strawberries + tang yuen + yu yuen (the rice balls + the taro balls). oohhhhhh so good. Ice monster may be better on a strict-fruit topping, but Tai Yi blows it out of the water for the whole package. Plus, you can get other foods there like soup+tang yuen (with meat inside), or the sweet red bean soup, etc.
While you are there, walk down past the shoe shops about 2-3 blocks and get some stir fry from Fong Chun.
Both are also mentioned on (not my site) http://www.wretch.cc/blog/ktv829&article_id=2278552
daddy alex: i want to try chocoholic soon!
anonymous: Thanks for the tip! Actually, I reviewed Tai Yi and it's one of my new favorites, I just haven't had a chance to update these sections yet. :)
Thanks for this. Will b heading to Taipei next week for a short hol with fren.
Havent been there for 4 yrs so your guide is precious!
Thanks!
Stephanie
stephanie: yup, it's definitely changed in the past 4 years!! hope you'll leave some comments if you try any new places... also, for the most updated desserts reviews, click on the LABELS section on the right side.
I would suggest Youtiao Wang, on Fuxing Road between Da An and Technology Building stations.
The soup & youtiao is great, but the highlight for me is the omelette youtiao.
if you guys are in the mood for really good french desserts, you should check out "15eme Patisserie 15區法式烘焙" behind The Sherwood Hotel on Min Sheng E Road. you can check out the following link for pictures http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=37&t=277631
(you have to click on each link for pics which gets kind of annoying, but the pics are pretty ;p)
Cream puffs are the best! My whole family love it very much.
Oh boy, never tried the food here but the photos and reviews make me so hungry now. I missed the chance last year when I visited Taipei :(
Whoa! Everything looks so good! I wish I can visit Taipei someday. For now, I have to settle with the good, old Sarasota classic desserts. Maybe after I save up for a tooth implant with my dentist, I'll go check Taipei out for some serious food tripping!
