snapshot: Tai Yi shaved ice

Who else is eating shaved ice this weekend? Tai Yi is SO good! Though I much prefer their red bean and fresh mochi balls with condensed milk over the mango/strawberry here.

For mango ice, you're better sticking to Ice Monster.

But there seems to be a new crop of frozen yogurt places coming to Taipei. I'll hopefully get to check them all out and let you know! Anyone try Yogurt Art or Yofroyo yet? What would you rather have to beat the heat? Shaved ice vs good frozen yogurt?

i haven't tried frozen yogurt in taipei yet, but i'm sure i'll prefer shaved ice more, since i like shaved ice more than froyo from the US. i love traditional taiwanese shaved ice! especially xian yu xian!

Those mochi balls looks fantastic and chewy! I would like to have some!

In our area most of the toppings for the shaved ice have either been sitting out for a long time or don't look good enough to eat. The toppings at Tai Yi look excellent and fresh :).

Yea, I saw they were openning a new frozen yogurt place in one of the allys in the Shida Night Market area. I can't wait till it's open so I can try it out.

We made it to Yo Froyo on Saturday - YUM! I just finished my own blog post about it. The frozen yogurt was not too sweet - but paired perfectly with their toppings. I also appreciated the fact that their large menus were in both Chinese & English. I can't compare it too much to all the shaved ice shops here since I am still a novice at navigating those places! But the frozen yogurt was a nice taste of home - with just enough of a Taiwan twist to make it unique. ~Enjoy~

I friggin love this place. Every year, I think I stop by here at least 3-4 times (and I come in Dec) just to eat the red bean with condensed milk. I actually didn't know you can add the 湯圓 onto the shaved ice! You're right about the previous post, it's a good place to get 湯圓 during 冬至。 Oh, from your previous post, 台大 is Tai Da! =)
