There are so many good Chinese restaurants but two of my favorites are:
Dian Sui Lo- nanking e. rd and bei ning rd.
They have a FANTASTIC fish that is huge. Just tell them you want the really big fish and they will know. It will feed at least 8.
They also have great shanghai dumplings that rival ding tai fungs.

Shin Yeh-on zhong xiao e. rd between Ta-An & Tun Hwa. On 2nd floor across from hospital.
Authentic Taiwanese food in a nice setting.
Get the gua bao and luen bing. Plenty of other dishes too with a very friendly picture menu.

Try 1010 Hunan Cuisine at the Xinyi Eslite Bookstore, 6F. Most of the dishes are spicy.

Their ribs are delicious, packed with flavor and spices. Skewered shrimp also yummy. Oh and their special drinks (non-alcoholic) are good as well.

It's so great reading about this blog! I had no idea. I've been having trouble finding the right restaurants; even though there are great restaurants in Taipei, there are a bunch of merely good or mediocre restaurants. I have some contributing opinions on Thai, Vietnamese, and a dimsum place. I haven't read all your entries in those categories, so you might have already blogged those.
